This week, we’re going fishing at Rushing Waters Trout Farm!

This week on Wisconsin Foodie, we’re gone fishing at Rushing Waters in Palmyra, WI. Rushing Waters is a trout farm with fifty-six pond filled with fresh and healthy rainbow trout. When Bill Graham bought the farm back in 1994, he decided to step outside the mainstream and started implementing practices that lead to more sustainable practices and healthier trout. By the turn of the millennium, Rushing Waters became completely chemical free and all natural. Today, the farm is run by Peter Fritsch who keeps Bill’s vision alive.

We meet up with Peter at Rushing Waters, grab some poles, and head down the hill to their ponds to try catching some fish. First, we stop and see how they harvest their trout for an order. In a process done by hand, the fishermen corral up the trout completely without machinery as to maintain the quality of the fish. After reaching the pond, then cast their lines for an afternoon of fishing. Having caught their fish, they bring is back to see how their fish is prepared and cooked at the Rushing Waters Trout House.
