NEW EPISODE Milwaukee’s North Side | BBQ
In this episode of Wisconsin Foodie we explore Milwaukee’s North Side, a once thriving African American community that has fallen on hard times recently. We profile several individuals changing the course from a Food Desert to an Urban Ag epicenter. We visit with Young Kim of the Fondy Food Center as he celebrates the market’s opening weekend with a BBQ competition. Then we travel a couple blocks away to one of Milwaukee’s most abundant gardens, Alice’s Garden where we meet with Venice Williams. Finally we visit Milwaukee’s iconic Speed Queen BBQ and get a tour from owner Giovanni Gillespie.
